Tracee Ellis Ross is proving once again that great hair can travel anywhere. The actress, entrepreneur, and founder of Pattern Beauty recently shared how she created her own hairstyles while filming the second season of Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross.
The new season premiered on Roku and follows Ross as she explores Melbourne, Gstaad, and Thailand. Since she traveled without a hairstylist, Ross relied on her own expertise and Pattern Beauty products to create looks that suited each destination and climate.
Tracee Ellis Ross Creates Glamorous Curls in Melbourne
The season begins in Melbourne, Australia, a city Ross described as a mix between Los Angeles and New York. For the trip, she embraced a voluminous 1970s-inspired curly hairstyle.
Ross started by washing her hair with Pattern Beauty’s Hydration Shampoo and Medium Conditioner. She then blow-dried her curls before applying Repair360 Leave-In Foam throughout her hair.
Next, she curled sections into large barrel curls and allowed them to cool before brushing through them. To complete the look, Ross used Shine Spray to add extra gloss and movement.
The finished style delivered big volume and soft texture, making it one of the standout beauty moments of the season.
Jumbo Cornrows Keep Things Simple in Switzerland
For her visit to Gstaad in the Swiss Alps, Ross opted for a more practical hairstyle. Returning to the region nearly four decades after attending boarding school there, she chose six jumbo cornrows that fit comfortably beneath a ski helmet.
She prepared her hair with Leave-In Conditioner and Curl Mousse before braiding it straight back.
Ross also focused on maintaining scalp health in the cold weather. Her routine included Deep Scalp Detox and Jojoba Oil Blend to keep her scalp moisturized and refreshed throughout the trip.
The protective style offered both convenience and comfort during her snowy adventure.
Thailand Inspires a Sleek Bun Look
In Thailand, Ross visited an elephant sanctuary, explored local culture, and enjoyed outdoor adventures. For the tropical climate, she selected a sleek bun hairstyle.
She began by combing through her curls and pulling them into a smooth ponytail. After braiding the ends, she wrapped the braid into a bun.
Ross then combined Pattern Beauty Leave-In Conditioner with Strong Hold Gel to smooth and secure the style. Finally, she perfected her edges using Edge Control and an Edge Brush.
The elegant hairstyle complemented the warm weather while remaining practical for a day filled with activities.
Pattern Beauty Takes Center Stage
Throughout the second season, Ross showcased several products from Pattern Beauty, the haircare brand she founded to celebrate curly, coily, and textured hair.
Each hairstyle highlighted different products designed to support healthy hair while traveling. From moisturizing shampoos and conditioners to styling gels and scalp treatments, Ross demonstrated how versatile hair routines can be while exploring the world.
A Personal Approach to Beauty and Travel
One of the most unique aspects of Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross is Ross’s hands-on approach. Rather than relying on a professional glam team, she styles her own hair and embraces the realities of travel.
Her beauty routines offer viewers an authentic look at how she manages her curls in different environments while maintaining her signature style.
As Season 2 takes viewers across Australia, Switzerland, and Thailand, Ross proves that confidence, creativity, and the right products can make every destination a great hair destination.
