Regan Hutsell is officially Miss America 2027. The Miss Texas representative took home the crown during the national competition in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sept. 6.
Hutsell becomes the 99th woman to hold the Miss America title. She also ends Texas’ more than 50-year wait for another Miss America winner.
Regan Hutsell Makes Miss America History
Hutsell’s victory marks the fourth time a woman from Texas has won the Miss America crown. The last Texas winner was Shirley Cothran in 1975.
The Houston native also made history by becoming the first Miss America winner to wear her natural hair during the crowning. Her win adds another milestone to a pageant journey shaped by dance, advocacy and personal growth.
Before entering pageantry, Hutsell built an impressive career as a dancer. She became a Radio City Rockette at 18 and later performed internationally with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
Her dance background helped prepare her for the discipline and performance demands of the Miss America competition. She also earned preliminary awards for both talent and fitness.
Her Platform Goes Beyond the Crown
Hutsell’s community service initiative, “Your Body Is Your Home,” focuses on healthy self-worth and positive body image.
Her advocacy is rooted in her own experience navigating an eating disorder and the pressures surrounding appearance in the dance world. She has used that experience to encourage women to focus on health, confidence and personal growth.
As Miss America, Hutsell will spend the next year representing the organization through public appearances, service and advocacy.
She will also receive a $50,000 scholarship as part of her Miss America prize package.
Who Were the Miss America 2027 Runners-Up?
Miss Louisiana Shelby Bordelon was named first runner-up, while Miss Illinois Kate Dimmett finished second runner-up.
Miss California Sharlize True Trujillo and Miss District of Columbia Evelyn Smith rounded out the Top 5.
Regan Hutsell now begins her year as Miss America 2027, carrying the Texas title onto the national stage while using her platform to promote purpose, confidence and service.
