Korry Sessoms has achieved a milestone that fewer than 0.05% of SAT test takers ever reach.
The 17-year-old student-athlete from Douglasville, Georgia, earned a perfect score of 1600 on the SAT while recovering from a torn ACL.
Sessoms attends New Manchester High School, where he plays wide receiver on the football team. Despite the challenges of injury rehabilitation, he stayed focused on both his athletic and academic goals.
His achievement places him among a small group of students nationwide who earn a perfect score on the college entrance exam each year.
Football helped shape Korry Sessoms’ success
Sessoms believes football played a major role in preparing him for academic success.
He said the sport taught him valuable lessons about accountability, discipline and consistency. Those same qualities helped him stay committed to his studies during his recovery.

Family celebrates major milestone
For Sessoms’ mother, Walisa Sessoms, the achievement represents much more than a test score.
She said she wants her son to grow up in a world where young Black men receive recognition for their accomplishments and are celebrated for their potential.
Watching him earn one of the highest academic honors available has become a proud moment for the entire family.
His achievement also serves as an example for other students balancing athletics with demanding academic goals.
Yale becomes Korry Sessoms’ next goal
After reaching one milestone, Sessoms has already turned his attention to the next.
His parents hope he will attend Georgia Tech, but the high-achieving student has his sights set on Yale University.
He plans to study engineering before continuing his education in law school.
As he prepares for college, Sessoms continues to prove that excellence extends far beyond the football field.
His journey shows that dedication, resilience and hard work can produce outstanding results, even during difficult moments.
With a perfect SAT score already behind him, Sessoms now looks ahead to building a future that combines academic achievement, athletics and professional ambition.
