Lifetime has released the official trailer for Sole Survivor of Flight 119, giving viewers a first look at the new drama starring Joy Bryant and Sarah Wayne Callies.
The movie is scheduled to premiere Saturday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m. ET/PT as part of Lifetime’s Strength of a Lifetime September movie event.
Inspired by actual events and Tammy L. Kling’s memoir Exit Row, the film centers on two women whose lives become connected after a devastating plane crash.
The story explores survival, family, faith and the unexpected relationships that can emerge during tragedy.
Sarah Wayne Callies plays sole survivor
Sarah Wayne Callies stars as Lisa Foster, a woman who becomes the sole survivor of a plane crash deep in the Mexican jungle.
After the crash, Lisa must depend on her resourcefulness and inner strength to survive the wilderness.
Her fight does not end with escaping the immediate danger. Lisa also faces the challenge of finding her way back to her young daughter.
Callies is known for roles in popular television series including The Walking Dead and Prison Break.
Her character’s survival journey forms one of the central storylines in Sole Survivor of Flight 119.
Joy Bryant joins the search
Joy Bryant plays Rebecca Till, an airline executive who narrowly misses boarding Flight 119.
After the crash, Rebecca is assigned to help the families of the passengers who remain missing.
As Rebecca becomes involved with Lisa’s loved ones, their lives begin to intersect in an unexpected way.
Bryant, known for Parenthood and For Life, brings another perspective to the story through Rebecca’s connection to the families searching for answers.
Rebecca’s role becomes increasingly important as the search for survivors continues.
A final message changes the search
One of the film’s key developments comes from a text Lisa sends moments before the crash.
The message provides an important breakthrough for those trying to locate her.
That discovery sets Rebecca and Lisa’s loved ones on a new path as they work to uncover what happened.
Meanwhile, Lisa continues fighting for survival in the Mexican jungle.
The two women’s stories unfold separately before becoming connected through the aftermath of the crash.
