Tyrik Johnson is stepping into a major new action movie alongside Jamie Foxx, KiKi Layne, Sasha Calle and Luke Hemsworth.
Johnson has joined the cast of Deadlocked, an upcoming action thriller from Amazon MGM Studios. The film is set to head to Prime Video.
The new project brings together a high-profile cast for a story that turns a courtroom proceeding into a fight for survival.

Johnson joins Foxx, Calle, Layne, Hemsworth and Marko Zaror in Deadlocked. However, filmmakers have not yet revealed details about Johnson’s character.
The casting adds another name to an ensemble led by Foxx. The Oscar-winning actor also serves as a producer through Foxxhole Productions.
For Johnson, the role marks another opportunity to expand his work on screen. His character remains under wraps as production details continue to emerge.
Jamie Foxx leads ‘Deadlocked’
Foxx leads the movie as a grieving former Marine who finds himself caught in an unexpected crisis.
The story begins with the former Marine serving on a jury. However, the trial quickly takes a dangerous turn when the defendant’s daughter takes control of the courthouse.
She launches a hostage situation in an attempt to free her father. As a result, the former Marine must draw on his past experience to survive the escalating threat.
The setup gives Deadlocked a mix of courtroom drama, action and suspense.
‘Deadlocked’ brings action to the courthouse
Nikhil Bhat directs Deadlocked from a screenplay by Eric Scot Anderson and Matt Takejiro Bosack.
The writers developed the script from an original idea. The story centers on an ordinary legal proceeding that suddenly becomes a deadly standoff.
That shift creates the movie’s central conflict. A jury member must move from listening to testimony to fighting for survival.
The film also gives Foxx another action-driven role. Meanwhile, the supporting cast adds several familiar faces to the project.
Amazon MGM Studios prepares film for Prime Video
Deadlocked comes from Amazon MGM Studios and is headed for Prime Video.
Fred Berger produces for Range, while Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Dave Caplan produce for C2. Foxx also produces through Foxxhole Productions.
AJ Bourscheid, Liz Destro, Paul Currie and Corinne Foxx serve as executive producers.
The production team has not announced a release date for the movie.
As more details emerge, Johnson’s role could provide another key piece of the film’s ensemble. For now, fans will have to wait to see how his character fits into the courthouse crisis.
