Jamie Foxx has lined up his next major film project.
The Oscar-winning actor is set to star in “Deadlocked,” a new action thriller from Amazon MGM Studios. The film will stream globally on Prime Video and marks another high-profile addition to Foxx’s growing slate of action projects.
According to reports, filmmaker Nikhil Bhat will direct the movie. Bhat gained international attention for his action thriller Kill, which earned strong reviews and a successful theatrical release.
Jamie Foxx Deadlocked Follows a Former Marine
Deadlocked centers on a grieving former Marine whose life takes an unexpected turn during jury duty.
The character finds himself caught in a dangerous hostage situation that forces him back into action. As the crisis unfolds, he must rely on his military training and survival instincts to protect innocent lives.
The film combines high-stakes action with an emotional story about loss, resilience and redemption.
Amazon MGM Studios Backs the Project
Amazon MGM Studios will distribute the film worldwide through Prime Video.
Meanwhile, Eric Scot Anderson and Matt Takejiro Bosack wrote the screenplay. The story is based on an original concept developed by the writing duo.
The production team includes Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger for Range Media Partners. Dave Caplan will also produce through C2.
Additionally, Foxx will serve as a producer through his Foxxhole Productions banner.
Nikhil Bhat Continues Rising in Hollywood
The project marks another major milestone for director Nikhil Bhat.
His action thriller Kill became one of the most talked-about action films of recent years. After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival, the movie secured a distribution deal with Lionsgate and later received a wide theatrical release.
As a result, Bhat has emerged as a filmmaker to watch in the action genre.
Now, he will bring his filmmaking style to an international audience through Deadlocked.
Jamie Foxx Remains Busy Across Film and Television
Foxx continues to build a diverse portfolio across film and television.
Earlier this year, he starred in Netflix’s action-comedy Back in Action. The movie became the streaming platform’s biggest English-language film debut since 2022.
Next, Foxx will appear in the Olympic boxing drama Fight for ’84 on Netflix.
In addition, he remains the executive producer and host of the Fox game show Beat Shazam.
With Deadlocked, Foxx adds another action-packed role to his career. The film also gives audiences a chance to see him team up with one of the industry’s rising action directors.
Amazon MGM Studios has not yet announced an official release date for Deadlocked.
