Keke Palmer is stepping into a new role as the host of The Voice.
NBC announced on Aug. 4 that Palmer will host Season 31 of the long-running singing competition. The season also introduces The Voice: Celebrity, a new format featuring well-known personalities instead of undiscovered singers.
The announcement marks the first time Carson Daly will not host the series since it premiered in 2011. However, he will remain involved as an executive producer and help launch the new version of the show.
“That’s right. It’s true. I’m hosting The Voice. I’ll see you guys there,” Palmer said in a video shared on Instagram.
Keke Palmer The Voice Season 31 Brings a New Era
Season 31 will introduce The Voice: Celebrity, where actors, athletes, comedians, influencers and reality television personalities compete for the title of the show’s first celebrity champion.
Instead of discovering new musical talent, the series will feature familiar faces from entertainment and sports.
Moreover, the celebrity edition will include several new behind-the-scenes features designed to give viewers a closer look at the competition.
Joe Jonas Joins the Coaching Panel
NBC also confirmed that Joe Jonas will make his coaching debut during Season 31.
He will join returning coaches Queen Latifah and Riley Green.
To celebrate the announcement, The Voice shared a playful social media video featuring Jonas creating a guest list and jokingly leaving Palmer off it.
The network said the new season will premiere in 2027.
New Features Will Give Fans More Access
The celebrity edition will introduce several additions to the competition.
First, Voice Boot Camp will follow contestants as they prepare for their Blind Auditions.
Next, a VIP Room will allow celebrity contestants to watch auditions together and react in real time.
Later in the competition, the Workroom will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at rehearsals, strategy sessions and Battle preparations.
Together, these additions aim to give fans a deeper look into the contestants’ journeys.
Carson Daly Remains Part of The Voice
Although Daly is stepping away from hosting, he stressed that he is not leaving the franchise.
After hosting every episode across 30 seasons over the past 16 years, Daly said he is grateful Palmer agreed to lead the new series.
He described Palmer as a “triple threat queen” and said she is the perfect choice to host The Voice: Celebrity.
Meanwhile, Daly will continue working behind the scenes as a producer.
Season 30 Arrives Before Celebrity Edition
Before The Voice: Celebrity premieres in 2027, NBC will air Season 30 on Sept. 21.
That season will feature Queen Latifah, Riley Green, Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine as coaches.
Levine recently said he has enjoyed returning to the competition after rejoining the show in Season 27.
For now, fans can look forward to seeing Palmer bring her energy and personality to one of television’s biggest music competitions when The Voice: Celebrity debuts next year.
