Rick Ross faces two battery charges
The arrest follows an alleged incident involving an ex-girlfriend, according to police records and reports.
CBS Miami reported that the alleged incident occurred on August 28 at Ross’ Star Island residence. The woman later reported the incident to police on September 29. According to the arrest affidavit, she told investigators that an argument escalated into physical violence.
Authorities allege that Ross struck the woman and restricted her breathing during the incident. The arrest affidavit also details additional allegations involving physical contact.
The woman reportedly provided investigators with photographs of injuries. Police also reviewed surveillance footage connected to the residence, according to CBS Miami.
Ross has pleaded not guilty
Ross’ legal team is disputing the allegations.
His attorneys, Steve Sadow and Bradley Horenstein, told TMZ that Ross is being wrongfully accused. They also pointed to the timing of the police report and said the rapper has pleaded not guilty.
The defense has asked the public not to prejudge Ross while the case moves through the legal system.
The allegations remain accusations, and the criminal case is ongoing.
Rick Ross’ court date is set
Ross appeared in Miami-Dade bond court Thursday. CBS Miami reported that the judge found probable cause and imposed a stay-away order involving the alleged victim.
Court records show that Ross’ bond totals $5,000, with $4,000 assigned to the felony charge and $1,000 assigned to the misdemeanor charge.
His arraignment is scheduled for October 22.
The arrest marks another major legal development for the longtime hip-hop star as the case moves forward.
