Nicki Minaj’s legal team is seeking permission to withdraw from her ongoing $275,000 production lawsuit, citing a breakdown in the attorney-client relationship.
In an October 23 court filing, attorney Bruce W. Bieber of Kurzman Eisenberg Corbin & Lever said disagreements over litigation strategy and communication issues have made continued representation unreasonably difficult.
The filing describes the relationship as irretrievably broken down and cites irreconcilable differences. However, the attorneys have not publicly disclosed the specific disagreements behind their request.
The firm cited attorney-client confidentiality but offered to provide additional details privately to the judge if necessary.
Nicki Minaj faces $275,000 production dispute
The legal dispute stems from a lawsuit filed by 24/7 Productions over approximately $275,149 in expenses tied to Minaj’s 2023 Jingle Ball appearances and promotional events for her Pink Friday 2 album.
According to the claims outlined in the report, 24/7 Productions says it covered production and hospitality costs that were never fully repaid.
Minaj and Pink Friday Productions LLC dispute the allegations. Her company has previously maintained that the debt was paid.
The case centers on the disputed expenses, while the law firm’s request to withdraw introduces a separate issue that the court must now address.
Judge must approve lawyers’ withdrawal
The firm cannot leave the case solely by requesting permission. The judge must decide whether to approve the withdrawal.
If the request is granted, Minaj and Pink Friday Productions LLC would need to secure new legal representation as the lawsuit continues.
The filing does not establish that Minaj or her company has admitted liability. The underlying payment allegations remain disputed.
What happens next in the lawsuit?
The immediate question is whether the court will allow Kurzman Eisenberg Corbin & Lever to step away from representing Minaj and her company.
The attorneys have not publicly explained the full nature of the disagreements. Any additional details provided privately to the judge may remain confidential.
For now, the withdrawal request is pending, and the production lawsuit remains unresolved. The court’s decision could determine whether Minaj and her company must find new counsel before the case proceeds.
