A fast-moving wildfire in Chino Hills, California, has forced immediate evacuation orders after rapidly expanding into a 30-acre blaze in the Tonner Canyon area on Thursday.
Fire crews from multiple agencies are battling the Grand Fire as it continues to threaten nearby residential neighborhoods, although no injuries or structural damage have been reported so far.
Fire breaks out near Grand Avenue
The fire began shortly before 7:15 p.m. near Grand Avenue and Pleasant Hill Drive, close to Grand Avenue Park, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
As flames intensified, officials quickly escalated the response due to strong fire activity and challenging conditions in the area.
By around 8:15 p.m., evacuation orders were issued for several nearby neighborhoods as a precaution.

An evacuation center was opened at the Chino Hills Community Center on Peyton Drive to support displaced residents.
In addition, Chino Hills Parkway was partially closed at key intersections to allow emergency crews to operate safely.
Multi-agency firefighting effort underway
Firefighters from Chino Valley, Cal Fire, and Los Angeles County are jointly working to contain the blaze.
Crews are using both ground units and aerial water drops to slow the fire’s spread across rugged terrain in Tonner Canyon.
By around 9:00 p.m., officials reported that firefighters were beginning to gain partial control of the situation, although containment efforts were still ongoing.
Cause of fire remains under investigation
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the Grand Fire.
However, aerial footage reportedly showed a burning vehicle near Grand Avenue, though officials have not confirmed whether it played a role in starting the blaze.
Investigators continue to examine all possible ignition sources.

The National Weather Service warned that moderate to strong winds combined with low humidity could increase fire danger across inland areas of Los Angeles County.
