Chipotle is once again tapping into fan excitement with the return of its Burrito Vault game, timed to celebrate National Burrito Day on April 2. Now in its third year, the interactive promotion is designed to reward loyal customers with a mix of prizes, including free food and exclusive deals.
The digital experience invites players to guess a specific burrito order combination in order to unlock a virtual vault filled with rewards. The promotion builds on strong engagement from previous years, when millions of players participated in the challenge.
This year’s rollout introduces new features aimed at increasing both participation and prize availability, signaling the brand’s continued push to connect with customers through gamified experiences.
How the Burrito Vault game works
The Burrito Vault game is available daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern time between March 30 and April 1. Participants must be Chipotle Rewards members to play, and they can access the game online through the brand’s dedicated platform.
Each player is given four attempts per hour to guess the correct burrito combination. The code changes every hour, resetting the challenge and introducing a fresh set of prizes.
Those who successfully unlock the vault can win a range of rewards. These include buy-one-get-one entrée offers, free double protein upgrades, and the highly sought-after grand prize of free burritos for an entire year.
Players are limited to winning one major reward during the campaign, but they can continue participating for a chance at additional prizes throughout the event period.
New Double Protein Power Hour adds more prizes
One of the biggest additions this year is a special feature called Double Protein Power Hour. This limited-time mode occurs once per day and offers significantly increased rewards compared to standard gameplay.
During this period, the number of prizes is doubled, giving participants more opportunities to win. In addition, all rewards issued during this window come with double protein, aligning with growing consumer interest in protein-focused meals.
The stakes are also higher at the top level. Instead of a single winner, the first two players to unlock the vault during this special hour can earn free burritos for a year, each with double protein included.
The introduction of this feature highlights Chipotle’s strategy of refreshing its promotions while staying aligned with evolving food trends and customer preferences.
Multiple chances to win before the big day
The structure of the game ensures that players have repeated opportunities to secure rewards. Every hour brings a new vault code and a new pool of prizes, encouraging consistent participation throughout the campaign.
During regular gameplay hours, the first person to crack the code wins free burritos for a year. After that, thousands of additional rewards are distributed, including BOGO offers and protein upgrades.
Even those who do not succeed in unlocking the vault can still take part in the celebration. On National Burrito Day, Chipotle is offering zero delivery fees on digital orders placed through its app and website, providing another way for customers to enjoy the promotion.
The combination of interactive gameplay and guaranteed deals ensures that both casual diners and dedicated fans have a reason to engage with the brand during the multi-day event.
As National Burrito Day approaches, Chipotle’s Burrito Vault continues to stand out as a creative way to merge digital interaction with real-world rewards. By expanding prize opportunities and introducing new gameplay elements, the company is reinforcing its connection with customers while turning a simple promotion into a widely anticipated annual event.
