The streaming world just got its biggest name back. Kai Cenat has resurfaced after an eight month hiatus, and he returned with news fans have waited on all year. Applications are officially open for Streamer University Class of 2026.
The announcement arrived on June 8 through a cinematic trailer posted to X and Instagram. Fittingly, the clip leaned on a Harry Potter theme and framed the program like a streamer’s Hogwarts. The trailer pointed hopefuls to the Streamer University website, where roles for students, professors and club directors are all open. Students will sharpen their content creation skills, professors will teach in their areas of expertise and club directors will run campus clubs throughout the program.
How to apply in person
Days later, Cenat revealed a twist. Beyond the online process, he will hold in person applications in three major cities. The first lands in Atlanta on June 16 at Georgia State Stadium at 1 p.m. To get in, applicants must be at least 18 and show a valid government issued photo ID. In addition, the event has a clear bag policy, so backpacks and regular purses will not get through the door. Cenat also urged attendees to stay respectful and warned that fighting or disruptive behavior would shut the event down.
Why Cenat went quiet
His return carries extra weight because of how he left. Cenat has not streamed on his own channel since October 2025. His abrupt exit followed his breakup with longtime girlfriend Gabrielle Alayah, known as Gigi, and he declared at the time that he was done with relationships. Afterward, he largely vanished. In January, however, he admitted to TMZ that burnout played a role and said he was exploring other ventures, including fashion.
Then the signs started stacking up. In late March, he quietly appeared at IShowSpeed’s Balling League event. Soon after, he popped up on Fanum’s Call of Duty 7 stream with the AMP crew, and his friend Rakai teased a comeback. Meanwhile, his channel kept growing and now sits at a record 20 million subscribers, the most on Twitch.
A proven hit returns
The first Streamer University ran in May 2025 at the University of Akron. For four days, accepted creators attended courses while a multi POV broadcast let viewers follow everything live on Twitch. As a result, the event racked up 23 million hours watched and won Best Streamed Event at the Streamer Awards.
Cenat has not yet revealed how many applicants will make the 2026 class or when the program begins. Even so, two things look certain. Streamer University is back, and so is Kai Cenat.
