Tiger Woods landed back in Florida on Friday, June 12, and he looked like a man ready to move on. The 50-year-old smiled for cameras as he walked out of a private airport near Jupiter. He had just wrapped a stint at a rehab clinic in Switzerland. The trip closed a rough three months that began with a crash, an arrest and a public promise to focus on his health.
Woods started treatment in early April, soon after a judge let him leave the country. Then in May he flew home for a short break before heading back to finish the program. Sources told People that he had mapped out a three-month plan, and so far it has held.
What Woods is coming home to
Now the harder work begins. People close to Woods say he wants to play professional golf again, though no one will guess at a date. First he has to steady his pain management and rebuild a fitness routine. The goal is to compete at a real level rather than make a ceremonial appearance. Friends frame the road back as steep but worth it to him.
The legal side still hangs over everything. His next court hearing falls on July 7, so the pressure of recovery and the courtroom will run side by side this summer. For now he seems steady, and the people around him say he stays committed on both fronts.
Inside the arrest that started it
The story began on March 27 in Jupiter Island. Woods was driving a Land Rover at high speed when it clipped a trailer behind a pickup truck. The SUV tipped onto its side and slid to a stop. He crawled out the passenger door, and no one got hurt.
Deputies thought he looked impaired and ran roadside tests. A breathalyzer showed no alcohol in his system. Still, he refused a urine test, which officers use to screen for drugs or medication. Investigators believed medication may have played a role, though they found nothing in the vehicle. Woods faced misdemeanor charges and pleaded not guilty on March 31.
Two people, two recoveries
Woods has dated Vanessa Trump since 2024, and he confirmed the relationship on Instagram in March 2025. This spring tested them both. In May the 48-year-old ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr. shared that she had a breast cancer diagnosis and underwent a procedure. Woods came back stateside around that stretch to be near her.
People close to the couple describe two partners leaning on each other while each fights a separate battle. She stays focused on her treatment. He stays focused on his recovery and his return. Both, by all accounts, feel lucky to have found each other now.
The smile at the airport told its own story. After Switzerland, after the headlines, Woods is finally home. The comeback, though, is only getting started.
