Faizon Love jailed in Florida with no bond set
The Elf and Couples Retreat actor faces two contempt charges tied to a child support case
Faizon Love was arrested late Tuesday night, June 16, in Florida. The 58-year-old actor now sits at Falkenburg Road Jail in Tampa without bond. He faces two counts of contempt of court. No release date has been announced.
How the arrest came together
Love’s attorney said authorities first picked him up in Riverside County, California. They then transported him to Hillsborough County days later following a contempt order from a Florida judge. The order connects to a paternity case filed by Tiffany Lee, which was recently reopened in Hillsborough County. According to his attorney, the charges relate to unpaid child support.
Court documents show Love claimed earlier this year that he earned nothing last year. He also said his highest gross income over the past five years totaled $13,000. In contrast, Lee alleged he owed $250,000 in unpaid support.
Love’s career before the arrest
Love built his name through a strong run of film and TV roles. He first gained wide attention as Big Worm in the 1995 comedy Friday. He later played a Gimbels store manager in Elf and Shane in Couples Retreat. Additional credits include Block Party, The War With Grandpa, black-ish and Bulletproof 2. His most recent credit came from the 2024 series Shoot the Pitch Roll the Clip.
What comes next for Love
Love was expected in court Thursday in Tampa. Officials have not shared further details about the specific circumstances behind the contempt charges. As of the latest records, no bond has been set and Love remains at Falkenburg Road Jail.
This is not his first arrest. He has previously faced assault charges, though those proceedings are separate from the current case.
