Put a Ring on It: Cheathab premieres on Friday, July 31, at 9 p.m. ET. OWN announced the bold spinoff of its hit relationship series on July 7, 2026. The new show follows long-term couples whose relationships have crumbled after infidelity. They move into the Miami-based Cheathab House to confront trust issues, jealousy, and emotional wounds. The series shifts to its regular Fridays at 8 p.m. ET timeslot on Aug. 14. As a result, viewers can easily follow the rest of the season.
Tina Perry, President of OWN, called the series a supercharged look at couples who both crossed the line. She said they must decide whether they can rebuild trust. Moreover, the show continues OWN’s tradition of relationship programming that explores love, growth, and emotional honesty. This new format raises the stakes by placing couples in a house designed to test accountability and healing after mutual betrayal. Consequently, viewers can expect one of the network’s most emotional relationship experiments.
How the Cheathab experiment works and who guides it
Dr. Stacii Jae Johnson serves as the lead relationship coach throughout the Cheathab experiment. She is a bestselling author and founded I Want a Good Man University. Many people know her for her direct and transformational approach to modern relationships. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Spelman College and a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Each week, she leads the couples through dates with former flings and past love interests who once threatened their relationships. As a result, old emotions return while new temptations emerge in a controlled setting.
The experiment ends with a life-changing decision. Each couple must choose whether to put a ring on it or end the relationship for good. Meanwhile, they attend workshops that focus on rebuilding trust and intimacy. Dr. Stacii challenges each couple to accept responsibility and face difficult conversations. Consequently, the process encourages genuine change instead of surface-level reconciliation.
Meet the three couples entering the Cheathab House
Three couples begin the Cheathab journey when the series premieres on July 31.
Dominique and Travis built their relationship through deep conversations despite the distance between them. However, Travis admitted to a brief fling in Las Vegas, which shattered Dominique’s trust. Now, Dominique wants commitment and security, while Travis hopes she will trust him again. Consequently, they enter Cheathab to find out whether they can bridge that divide.
Mia and Jarron met on Facebook in 2022 and bonded over their shared faith. Mia later learned that Jarron had texted and slept with other women. Hurt by his actions, she sought comfort from one of his friends. That decision widened the gap between them. Even so, both still love each other and struggle with unresolved questions about responsibility. Cheathab House will reveal whether Jarron can prove his commitment and whether Mia can truly forgive him.
Mi-Mi, a physician assistant and boutique owner, met Joshua through a mutual friend. Joshua cheated with his ex, while Mi-Mi later reconnected emotionally with hers. Joshua proposed twice, including once at Walmart. However, Mi-Mi declined because she still struggles to trust him. Consequently, their journey asks whether love alone can lead them toward marriage.
