Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated celebrated leadership, service, and achievement during the public meeting of its 72nd International Boule on July 20 in Las Vegas.
Television host Tamron Hall served as emcee for the event. International President Danette Anthony Reed presented the organization’s 2026 International Achievement and Soaring Awards.
The ceremony recognized leaders from government, sports, science, business, and public service for their contributions and impact.
Kamala Harris receives Rosa Parks/Coretta Scott King Award
Former Vice President Kamala Harris received the Rosa Parks/Coretta Scott King Award in absentia.
Alpha Kappa Alpha honored Harris for her leadership and public service. Harris is also a member of the sorority.
Shaquille O’Neal and A’ja Wilson among major honorees
Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal received the Anna Eleanor Roosevelt Award.
Meanwhile, four-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson earned the Generation Next Soaring Award.
The organization also presented Maryland Governor Wes Moore with the Advocate for Social Justice Soaring Award.

NASA astronaut Victor Glover earns President’s Award
NASA astronaut and Artemis II pilot Victor J. Glover Jr. received the President’s Award.
The recognition highlighted his achievements in space exploration and public service.
Sandra Douglass Morgan also received recognition during the ceremony. The organization presented her with the Septima Poinsette Clark Award.
Morgan made history as the first Black woman to serve as president of an NFL team.
Sorority recognizes members and hospitality leaders
Alpha Kappa Alpha also honored members of the sorority for their service and leadership.
Charletta Wilson Jacks received the Carey B. Preston Leadership Award.
Quianna E.E. Christian earned the Ethel Hedgemon Lyle Undergraduate Service Award.
The sorority also recognized four hospitality leaders with the International Soaring Appreciation Award for their contributions and support.
The annual awards ceremony served as one of the highlights of the 72nd International Boule, celebrating individuals who continue to make an impact in their communities and professions.
