Netflix is welcoming viewers back to Hillman College.
The streamer has released the official trailer for the A Different World reboot, introducing a new group of students while bringing several beloved characters back to campus.
The new series continues the legacy of the classic sitcom with a fresh generation at the center of the story. At the same time, familiar Hillman faces will return to help connect the new series to the original.
Maleah Joi Moon leads the new cast as Deborah Wayne, the daughter of Whitley and Dwayne Wayne.
Moon is joined by Alijah Kai as Rashida, Cornell Young IV as Shaquille, Jordan Aaron Hall as Amir, Kennedi Reece as Hazel and Chibuikem Uche as Kojo.
The new students will bring their own personalities, friendships and challenges to Hillman College.
Meanwhile, the connection to the original series gives the reboot an important link to the show’s history.
Fans will also see several familiar faces when the A Different World reboot arrives.
Kadeem Hardison returns as Dwayne Wayne, while Jasmine Guy reprises her role as Whitley Gilbert. Cree Summer and Darryl M. Bell are also returning to the Hillman universe.
Their appearances give longtime fans a chance to reconnect with characters who became central to the original series.
The returning stars will also help bridge the gap between Hillman’s past and its new generation.
The trailer puts the spotlight on the new students as they begin their college journeys.
Just like the original series, the reboot is expected to explore friendships, relationships, campus life and the experiences that come with growing into adulthood.
However, the new students will experience college through a modern lens.
The presence of Deborah Wayne also adds another layer to the story. As the daughter of Whitley and Dwayne, she represents a direct connection between the original Hillman students and the new generation.
The A Different World reboot premieres Sept. 24 on Netflix.
With a new class arriving and several original stars returning, the series hopes to introduce Hillman College to longtime fans and a new audience.
For viewers who grew up with the original show, seeing familiar faces back on campus could make the return especially meaningful.
Now, a new generation gets its chance to experience life at Hillman.
