The vice president of a Detroit funeral home has been found dead days after a family accused the business of mistakenly cremating their mother.
Joseph Hutchinson Jr., 65, was found inside a Detroit apartment, according to the account discussed by The Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM. His death comes as the family continues seeking answers about what happened to their mother.
Authorities have not established a connection between Hutchinson’s death and the funeral-home incident.
Family discovered the wrong woman in the casket
The controversy began when the family arrived for their mother’s viewing and discovered another woman inside the casket.
The family said funeral home staff told them their mother may have been cremated by mistake. According to the account, staff believed a wet toe tag may have fallen off, causing the bodies to become mixed up.
The family questioned how such an error could happen and is now seeking confirmation about their mother’s remains.
Hutchinson was found dead days later
Hutchinson was reportedly found with a belt around his neck.
