North West, 12, just hit a milestone that most artists wait years to reach. On Friday, June 12, the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West performed her first solo set at a music festival. She took the stage at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash 2026, held at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois, just outside Chicago.
Fans packed the tent stage to see her, and the crowd roared as she ran through her songs. Both of her parents made sure the moment did not pass quietly. Kim shared clips and photos from backstage, while Kanye, who was not there in person, reposted footage of her set for his followers.
North steps into her own spotlight
The performance marked a turning point for North. She wore head to toe black Balenciaga, with long blue pigtails, dark sunglasses, spiky jewelry and chunky boots. The look has become something of a signature for her, and on stage she leaned into it with full confidence.
She performed tracks from her debut EP, N0rth4Evr, which dropped on May 1. She also brought out TALKING, her 2024 collaboration with her father from his album Vultures 1, and the crowd sang along. Lil Wayne’s son, who records as Lil Novi, joined her for part of the set.
A famous family that showed up
The Kardashian and West families rarely miss a chance to rally around one of their own. Kim, 45, walked the festival grounds with her stylist, Dani Levi, who shared behind the scenes moments online. Kanye, 49, cheered from afar with his reposts.
The wider family had already shown its support when the EP arrived in May. North’s uncle Rob Kardashian, her aunt Khloé Kardashian and her grandmother Kris Jenner all posted about streaming her music. For a child raised in front of cameras, that backing seems to matter.
A growing list of stage moments
North is not new to a stage, even if Friday was her first solo festival set. Days after her EP came out, she made a surprise appearance at Rolling Loud in Orlando alongside rapper Molly Santana. Back in April, she joined her father at his SoFi Stadium concert, where they performed TALKING and Piercing on My Hand together.
Her music itself nods to the strange experience of growing up watched. The songs touch on living under constant attention and learning to tune out the noise. That theme fits a preteen who has spent her whole life in public view.
North has drawn some online chatter over her style, and she has mostly waved it off. She remains the eldest of Kim and Kanye’s four children, ahead of Saint, who is 10, Chicago, who is 8, and Psalm, who is 7. For now, the spotlight belongs to her, and she seems comfortable standing in it.
