A’ja Wilson earns a 30th honor nobody has come close to matching
Wilson averaged 30 points during a perfect week and became the fastest to 6,000 career WNBA points
A’ja Wilson added two records to her resume in the span of a single week. The Las Vegas Aces star earned Western Conference Player of the Week honors for the 30th time in her career, a record no other WNBA player has reached, covering games played from June 8 through June 14. She also became the fastest player in league history to score 6,000 career points.
How Wilson’s week unfolded
Wilson led the Aces to a 3-0 week that included a win over the then top-ranked Minnesota Lynx. She averaged 30 points, nine rebounds, nearly five assists and close to three blocks per game during that stretch, while shooting above 50% from the floor. Two of her three games went for 30 or more points, extending her streak of scoring at least 20 to 11 straight games.
Against Seattle, Wilson dropped 34 points and crossed the 6,000 career point threshold, doing so faster than any player in WNBA history. She followed that with 32 points against Portland. Then, in a Commissioner’s Cup win over Minnesota, she recorded 24 points and 10 rebounds, helping push Las Vegas into first place in the standings.

A dominant performance against Phoenix
Wilson continued that form in a midweek matchup against the Phoenix Mercury. She scored 33 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and added five steals and two blocks. The combination of those numbers in a single game has never been recorded by any other player in WNBA history.
The Aces won the game 86-76 and clinched a spot in the Commissioner’s Cup championship game in the process. The defensive effort across the full team matched Wilson’s individual output. Las Vegas finished with 18 steals, tying a league high for a single game this season. Jackie Young contributed 20 points and five steals from the perimeter, and NaLyssa Smith added 21 points off the bench.
What comes next for the Aces
Las Vegas will face the New York Liberty on June 30 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the Commissioner’s Cup title. This marks the Aces’ third appearance in the championship game since the annual in-season tournament began in 2021. No team has won the title twice, meaning Las Vegas has a chance to do something the competition has not managed yet.
For Wilson, the week was another reminder of where she stands in the league. The records keep arriving, and the Aces keep winning around her.
