Randi Rossario is entering a new chapter with a baby on the way, a new television series and a children’s literacy app in development.
The Detroit-based author, entrepreneur and social media personality announced that she is expecting another child as her new series, Judge Randi, arrives on Tubi. The show premieres Sept. 4, adding another major milestone to an already busy year.
Rossario is more than halfway through her pregnancy. The new baby will join a family that already includes three older children. Her husband, J.T. Maples, is also preparing to welcome another child with her.
A different approach to motherhood
This pregnancy has given Rossario an opportunity to reflect on how she approached motherhood the first time around.
Her youngest child, Chandler, was born in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. With much of the family at home, everyone had more time to be involved in his early years.
Now, Rossario says she wants to approach the new experience with less anxiety. Instead of worrying about whether every stage of development happens on a strict schedule, she is trying to give herself more room to enjoy the process.
The age gap between her children also makes this pregnancy different. One of her older children is preparing to graduate from high school, while the family is getting ready to start the baby stage again.
A maternity shoot marks the moment
Rossario celebrated the pregnancy with a maternity photo shoot at the Detroit Foundation Hotel.
The shoot was also about more than documenting her pregnancy. She viewed it as a way to capture how much her family and personal brand have grown.
She did not have a maternity shoot when Chandler was born, making this experience especially meaningful. The pregnancy itself came as a surprise, but she now sees the timing as an opportunity to slow down and reset.
The shoot featured styling by Marv Neal, a gown by The Haus of CDK, hair by Ashleè Jenkins and makeup by Timmy Choo. Photographer Kyra Head of Brix Room captured the images.
Judge Randi brings entertainment with a message
Her new Tubi series takes a lighter approach to serious topics.
Judge Randi combines humor with lessons about community, business and everyday issues. Rossario describes the format as entertainment that also gives viewers something to think about.
One episode focuses on the importance of supporting Black-owned businesses and treating those businesses with the same respect given to larger corporations.
The series reflects Rossario’s broader approach to using her platform for both entertainment and education.
A literacy app is next
Rossario is also preparing to launch a children’s literacy app in November.
The app is designed for children ages 2 to 9 and aims to address gaps in technology access and literacy, particularly among African American children.
For Rossario, the project adds another piece to a year already filled with major changes.
With a new baby coming, Judge Randi now streaming on Tubi and an app on the way, Rossario is building several parts of her career while preparing to grow her family once again.
