Inside the Georgia arena with a bold mission beyond entertainment.

Mar. 01, 2026 / Entertainment / Author: Praise Swint

A groundbreaking addition has arrived in Georgia with the opening of The Arena @ Southlake, a space designed to operate as both an entertainment venue and an education hub. The midsize arena is the only one of its type in the state, offering a rare blend of high-capacity event features and career-focused resources. Owned by Clayton County Public Schools, the venue was created to serve the community while offering opportunities that reach far beyond traditional academics.

The arena seats 8000 guests and includes eight suites, positioning it as a competitive option for major events. Yet its mission extends well past entertainment. The facility is also becoming an anchor for workforce development, targeting pathways that help middle and high school students build confidence and gain early exposure to future professions.

A global learning model with local impact

A key partner in this effort is Junior Achievement, an international organization known for experiential programs that prepare students for real-world career choices. At the arena, Junior Achievement supports multiple initiatives that focus on hands-on learning, professional responsibility and early skill development.

One standout resource is the Dream Accelerator program, supported by Delta Air Lines. It functions as a career development center where students can engage with tools designed to uncover strengths and interests. The system creates personalized word clouds that reflect those traits and maps out potential job paths. Only four Dream Accelerator locations exist in the United States, and this installation can accommodate up to 60 students per day. The center is becoming a key part of the district’s effort to help young people build practical confidence through structured discovery.

Studios that open doors to modern careers

Inside the arena, students will gain access to specialized spaces that mirror professional environments. The campus includes a full video and film broadcasting studio that allows participants to learn production skills through active practice. A podcast and recording studio is also onsite, giving students the ability to experiment with digital storytelling, audio editing and modern communication formats.

To expand opportunities further, the arena will soon introduce a student-run marketing agency. This initiative gives young creatives a place to test campaigns, develop branding ideas and learn client-ready skills through guided experiences. By supporting everything from technical production to strategic communication, the facility is designed to expose students to a broad range of professional roles.

A venue set to boost the local workforce

Beyond student development, the arena is expected to make a measurable economic impact in the region. Estimates show the space could generate between 300 and 500 jobs in Clayton County, offering new roles in operations, guest services, media support and educational programming. That projection places the venue among the county’s most promising new employment contributors.

Events held at the arena will undergo an application and vetting process, ensuring only professional promoters and companies qualify to host large-scale gatherings. This approach is intended to maintain operational quality while prioritizing safety and consistency for attendees.

A new chapter for community learning and entertainment

With its blend of capacity, innovation and educational purpose, the arena is becoming a transformative space for Georgia families. Its commitment to entertainment is matched by its focus on guiding students toward careers that align with their strengths. Through programs like 1) Junior Achievement experiences, 2) the Dream Accelerator center, 3) studio-based learning and 4) the student-run marketing agency, young people are gaining access to tools that encourage exploration and growth.

More than a venue, the project is shaping into a community anchor that brings people together while opening pathways for the next generation.
