Oreo’s new summer flavor is here  and it tastes exactly like something you ate as a kid on a hot July afternoon. The limited-edition Firecracker Pop cookie arrives on store shelves across the United States starting May 4, 2026. It features golden Oreo wafers sandwiched around a triple-layer creme that mimics the raspberry, lemon, and blue raspberry taste of the classic red, white and blue popsicle. Moreover, each layer sits in the same order as the original frozen treat  red on the outside, white in the middle, blue at the center. The result is a cookie that delivers 3 distinct flavors in a single bite. Nabisco, which makes Oreo under parent company Mondelēz International, is billing it as a limited-time summer treat. It will be available only while supplies last.

What makes the Firecracker Pop different from past Oreo releases

Oreo has a long history of limited-edition drops. However, the Firecracker Pop stands apart from most of them in one clear way. Instead of a single uniform creme, it uses 3 distinct flavor layers stacked inside the cookie. The red layer tastes of raspberry. The white layer delivers lemon. The blue layer brings blue raspberry. Each layer is separately formulated. As a result, the flavor shifts slightly depending on which part of the creme each bite hits first.

This approach is different from the earlier Firework Oreo, which used popping candy pieces mixed into the creme to create a crackling sensation on the tongue  similar to Pop Rocks. That version was about texture and fizz. The Firecracker Pop, by contrast, is entirely about flavor. Furthermore, the use of golden wafers rather than the classic chocolate Oreo cookie was a deliberate choice. The lighter, vanilla-flavored wafer lets the fruity creme layers come through more clearly without competing flavors getting in the way.

How the Firecracker Pop fits into Oreo’s summer playbook

The Firecracker Pop is not Oreo’s first patriotic or summer-themed release. The brand has previously launched red, white and blue Olympic-style cookies, candy corn editions for autumn, and peppermint versions for winter. Additionally, Nabisco has used limited-time drops consistently to generate seasonal excitement and drive urgency at the point of sale. The strategy works because the scarcity element encourages shoppers to buy immediately rather than wait.

This release follows that same model. Packs will appear in standard snack-cookie sizes in the regular cookie aisle. There is no special section or dedicated display. That positioning makes Firecracker Pop easy to grab alongside other Oreo varieties without requiring a dedicated shopping trip. Moreover, Nabisco has not announced any tied-in promotion or contest for this release. The focus is entirely on the flavor and the window of availability.

Why the online buzz around this cookie is already building

The Firecracker Pop announcement landed in late April and immediately generated social media activity from Oreo fans and food discovery accounts. The visual appeal of the triple-layer creme is a significant factor. Cookie reveals that show a colorful filling tend to perform exceptionally well on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where food content drives strong engagement. Furthermore, the popsicle angle resonates because it taps into a near-universal childhood memory that cuts across generations.

Additionally, the limited-time framing always adds urgency. Past Oreo limited editions  including the Birthday Cake, Cinnamon Bun, and Brookie-O varieties  became collector items for dedicated fans who bought multiple packs before they disappeared. The Firecracker Pop is positioned to follow that same arc. Nutrition figures for the new cookie are expected to fall within the same calorie range as other cream-filled Oreo styles. However, exact numbers will depend on pack size and serving count.

Where and when to find Oreo’s new summer flavor before it sells out

The Firecracker Pop will be available at major retailers across the United States starting May 4, 2026. That includes grocery chains, mass-market retailers, and convenience stores that carry the standard Oreo lineup. The cookies will sit in the regular cookie aisle rather than a seasonal or specialty section. Stock is expected to move quickly given the online buzz already building ahead of the release date.

There is no confirmed end date for the Firecracker Pop run. Like most Oreo limited editions, it will remain on shelves only while supplies last. As a result, early shoppers stand a better chance of finding it before it disappears.
