Diarra Brickland is back and Detroit is not letting her rest. Paramount+ officially announced the premiere date and first look for Season 2 of Diarra from Detroit on June 10, 2026. The Diarra from Detroit Season 2 premiere 2026 date is set for July 29, when 2 new episodes will drop simultaneously on the platform. After that, new episodes will arrive every Wednesday through Sept. 9, completing the 8-episode season. Creator, writer, executive producer and star Diarra Kilpatrick returns with what promises to be an even wilder and more dangerous ride than the first season.
What Season 2 is about
Season 2 picks up with Diarra attempting and immediately failing to have a peaceful summer. What starts as a simple furniture recovery mission spirals fast. Within the first episode, the situation escalates into a triple homicide investigation. From there, things only get more chaotic. Diarra finds herself chasing a citywide treasure hunt, going undercover with a secret society, starring in a Tubi movie, dodging gang warfare and uncovering buried secrets beneath Detroit itself. Along the way, she also has to sort out her complicated romantic life. She does not manage that particularly well either.
The season leans fully into the show’s signature blend of comedy, suspense and unapologetically Detroit storytelling — the same combination that made Season 1 one of the most talked-about debuts of the year.
The returning and new cast
The core ensemble returns for Season 2. Kilpatrick leads again alongside DomiNque Perry, Bryan Terrell Clark and Jon Chaffin. Phylicia Rashad, Harry Lennix and Shannon Wallace also return. In addition, Season 2 brings in an impressive roster of guest stars. The new additions include 14 notable names: 1. Cliff “Method Man” Smith; 2. Morris Chestnut; 3. Glynn Turman; 4. Bokeem Woodbine; 5. Amber Riley; 6. Lil Rel Howery; 7. Lovie Simone; 8. Shoniqua Shandai; 9. Nicco Annan; 10. Skilla Baby; 11. Icewear Vezzo; 12. Chris “CP” Powell; 13. Jude Demorest; and 14. additional guest appearances throughout the season. That lineup signals that the show is drawing significant talent to Detroit for this sophomore run.
The creative team behind the show

Kilpatrick continues as creator, writer and executive producer. Kenya Barris and Miles Orion Feldsott return as executive producers, with Feldsott also serving as showrunner. BET Studios and Khalabo Ink Society produce the series together. That team helped shape Season 1 into one of the most original comedic thrillers of recent memory, and their return gives Season 2 a strong creative foundation to build on.
Why Season 1 made such an impact
Season 1 of Diarra from Detroit debuted to strong critical acclaim and quickly built a devoted audience. Rolling Stone praised it as a murder mystery, a romance, a comedy and a star-making showcase all at once. Variety called it a hilariously chaotic P.I. drama with flair. Deadline, Rolling Stone and The Hollywood Reporter all named it among the top 10 shows of the year. Furthermore, the series earned multiple nominations from the NAACP Image Awards and Independent Spirit Awards. Kilpatrick personally won a Gracie Award for Actress in a Breakthrough Role in Drama for her performance — recognition that confirmed what audiences already knew from watching the show.
