The cast and creative team behind They Fight stepped onto the red carpet at the Tribeca Festival this week to celebrate the film’s highly anticipated debut.

The story follows a former boxer seeking redemption

They Fight centers on Walt Manigan, a reformed ex-convict who returns to Southeast Washington, D.C., hoping to rebuild his life.
His journey leads him back to a struggling boxing gym overseen by his longtime mentor, Slim. Inside the gym, three young fighters face challenges of their own while pursuing their dreams in and out of the ring.
As Walt reconnects with the world he once tried to leave behind, he discovers that his most difficult battle is not fought inside a boxing ring.
The film explores themes of personal growth, accountability and community through the lives of characters searching for a better future.
The cast features several acclaimed performers
Alongside Holland and Pierce, the film stars Samira Wiley, Anthony B. Jenkins, Toussaint Francois Battiste and Mykelti Williamson.
The ensemble brings together veteran actors and emerging talent to tell a story rooted in resilience and determination.
Sheldon Candis helped bring the story to life
Candis co-wrote and directed the film, while Andrew Renzi served as co-writer and producer.
Additional producers include Jason Michael Berman and Ben Renzo.
The project was developed through Andscape, a content studio focused on exploring Black identity through storytelling connected to sports, culture and community.
Hulu release arrives in July
Following its Tribeca Festival debut, They Fight will reach a wider audience when it premieres on Hulu on Disney+ on July 17.
Festival attendees were among the first to experience the emotional sports drama, which combines boxing action with a story about redemption, mentorship and finding purpose after adversity.
