Sean Combs’ prison release date has changed for the third time in four months. Federal Bureau of Prisons records now list his projected release as February 23, 2028.
The new date moves his release nearly seven weeks earlier than the previous estimate. Earlier records had listed April 15, 2028, as his expected release.
The adjustment comes while Combs continues to appeal his conviction and sentence.
Multiple changes have shortened his sentence timeline
Officials first scheduled Combs for release on May 8, 2028. They later changed the date to June 4 before moving it to April 25 and then April 15.
The latest revision pushes the projected release even earlier. Representatives for Combs have not publicly explained the newest change.
The repeated updates have drawn attention because they reduce the amount of time he is expected to remain in prison.
Combs continues serving his sentence in New Jersey
Combs has remained in custody since his arrest in September 2024. He is serving his sentence at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey.
Earlier this year, his representatives confirmed that he joined the prison’s Residential Drug Abuse Program. They said he has taken his rehabilitation seriously since entering the program.
Participation in certain prison programs can affect projected release calculations under federal rules.
Appeal challenges prostitution-related convictions
A federal court convicted Combs on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution after a high-profile trial in New York.
The jury acquitted him of sex trafficking and racketeering charges, which carried much harsher penalties. The court later sentenced him to 50 months in prison, imposed a $500,000 fine and ordered five years of supervised release after his release.
His legal team has appealed the conviction. The lawyers argue that the sentence should be overturned or reduced. Prosecutors oppose that request and maintain that the conviction should stand.
The appeal remains pending before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Release date could still change
Although federal records currently list February 23, 2028, as Combs’ projected release date, prison schedules can change. Appeals, earned credits and administrative reviews may affect future calculations.
For now, the revised date marks the third adjustment in four months and moves the music executive’s expected release closer than previously anticipated.
