Cardi B has confirmed that a new album is on the way, and she does not plan to make fans wait another eight years.
The rapper shared the update during a conversation with The Breakfast Club at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. Cardi revealed that she plans to step away from her usual schedule after her birthday in November so she can focus on recording.
“I am doing a new album,” Cardi said during the conversation.
She also made it clear that the project is still in its early stages. When asked how much music she had completed, Cardi said she had about two songs recorded.
However, she does not expect the process to take years.
Cardi B is targeting 2027
Cardi confirmed that she wants to release the new album next year.
The announcement comes one year after the release of her second studio album, Am I the Drama? The project arrived on Sept. 19, 2025, following her 2018 debut album, Invasion of Privacy.
That long gap appears to have influenced Cardi’s approach to her next project.
During her interview with The Breakfast Club, she was asked whether fans would have to wait another eight years for new music. Cardi quickly dismissed that possibility.
“Absolutely,” she said when asked if the album could arrive next year.
She also explained why she feels ready to move faster this time.
“I just got this confident,” Cardi said. “I got this new attitude.”
Cardi B has already returned with new music
Although the new album is still being recorded, Cardi has remained active musically throughout 2026.
She released “AH HA” in July as her latest solo single. She also performed the song during her iHeartRadio Music Festival set in Las Vegas.
Her festival performance also included several fan favorites, including “Bodak Yellow,” “ErrTime,” “Hello” and “Taki Taki.”
That performance gave fans an early look at the energy surrounding Cardi’s next chapter.
The rapper has also continued to benefit from the momentum surrounding Am I the Drama? The album includes songs such as “Outside,” “Imaginary Playerz,” “Safe” featuring Kehlani and “Pretty & Petty.”
The next era could move quickly
Cardi’s announcement suggests that she is already thinking beyond her current album cycle.
She plans to dedicate more time to recording after her birthday in November. With only two songs completed so far, the project still has plenty of work ahead.
Still, Cardi’s comments suggest that she is approaching the new album with a different mindset.
“I’m not even playing around,” she said.
The rapper has also discussed plans for another major tour in 2027. According to iHeart, Cardi wants to take her next tour beyond the U.S. and Canada, with Europe among the destinations she is considering.
That could make 2027 a particularly busy year for the rapper if both the album and tour plans move forward.
Fans will not have to wait eight years again
Cardi B’s next album does not have a title or release date yet.
The project is also far from finished. However, the rapper has now confirmed that she is working on it and expects to release it in 2027.
For fans who remember the lengthy wait between Invasion of Privacy and Am I the Drama?, her latest comments offer a much different timeline.
Cardi is ready to record, and this time, she says she is not playing around.
