Brad Pitt is back as Cliff Booth, and the new trailer for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth gives fans their first full look at his dangerous next chapter.
Netflix released the official trailer on Sept. 21, bringing the character back eight years after the events of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The new film reunites Pitt with writer Quentin Tarantino while putting David Fincher in the director’s chair.
The movie moves the story from 1969 to 1977. This time, Cliff is no longer simply working as Rick Dalton’s stunt double.
Instead, he has found a new role inside Hollywood’s darker world.
Cliff Booth has a new job
The trailer introduces Cliff as a Hollywood fixer.
That means his work now involves handling problems for powerful people behind the scenes. His particular skills make him useful when situations become dangerous.
The trailer quickly hints that Cliff’s past has not disappeared.
He discusses his experience with violence while another character brings up the number of people he has killed on television.
However, the new story appears to place him in situations where the danger is much closer to home.
The trailer introduces a dangerous Hollywood
The new film takes place in a very different Los Angeles.
Cliff encounters Charlie Peters, a television star played by Scott Caan. Elizabeth Debicki plays Charlie’s agent, Karen Crosby, while Carla Gugino portrays his wife, Toni.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also stars as Roderick “Hot Rod” Harrison, a former football player who has become an actor.
The cast also includes Peter Weller, Timothy Olyphant and other familiar faces.
Together, the characters pull Cliff into a story involving Hollywood ambition, crime and secrets.
Rick Dalton is still part of the story
One of the trailer’s biggest callbacks involves Rick Dalton.
Leonardo DiCaprio’s character was Cliff’s longtime employer and friend in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. In the new story, however, Cliff explains that Rick became too heavy for him to continue working as his stunt double.
That exchange immediately connects the new film to the original movie.
It also establishes how much Cliff’s life has changed since audiences last saw him.
David Fincher takes over the franchise
The new movie marks a major creative change for the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood universe.
Tarantino wrote the screenplay, while Fincher directs. The collaboration brings Tarantino’s characters into Fincher’s darker filmmaking style.
Netflix describes the movie as a 1977 story about Cliff Booth in a very different Hollywood.
The trailer reflects that shift with a more mysterious and dangerous atmosphere.
When will ‘Cliff Booth’ be released?
The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will first arrive in IMAX theaters on Nov. 25, 2026.
The film will then begin streaming on Netflix on Dec. 23. Netflix has described the theatrical run as an exclusive two-week IMAX engagement.
That makes the movie one of Netflix’s major theatrical releases heading into the holiday season.
For fans of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the trailer offers the first substantial look at what happened to Cliff after his wild 1969 adventure.
Now, eight years later, Cliff Booth has a new job, new enemies and another dangerous Hollywood mess to survive.
