Robert Montgomery is returning to Istanbul for a new solo exhibition at ISTANBUL’74 Arnavutköy. The exhibition opens on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, with the artist in attendance.

Robert Montgomery presents new paintings in Istanbul
The new exhibition features three paintings from Montgomery’s Poets in the Cities series. The works are being presented outside the United Kingdom for the first time.
The series previously debuted at Charleston, the historic home of the Bloomsbury Group in England. Its Istanbul presentation now expands the new body of work.
The exhibition also includes new lightworks. Together, the pieces reflect the continuing evolution of Montgomery’s artistic practice.
At the same time, the exhibition highlights his longstanding relationship with Istanbul.
The exhibition brings poetry into new spaces
Montgomery is known for using poetic language as a central part of his work. His practice moves between traditional art forms and public installations.
His work has appeared at major biennials, museums and cultural institutions around the world.
The Istanbul exhibition continues that approach through a combination of paintings and lightworks. It also introduces the Poets in the Cities paintings to audiences outside the UK.
