(LOS ANGELES) JULY 14, 2025 – IT’S OFFICIAL! Laterras R. Whitfield, host of the top-rated, award-winning, and often viral relationship podcast, Dear Future Wifey, is getting married! The celebrated podcaster held a surprise engagement event yesterday, Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the California Worship Center, an LA-based, soul-serving ministry led by Pastor Warryn S. Campbell II and First Lady Erica Campbell. The location was selected, specifically, because it is the very place Whitfield met his Future Wifey over a year and a half ago.
“I’ve always believed I’d marry my best friend, and now that dream is our reality,” shared Whitfield. “From the moment I first saw her, my heart recognized home. So, it was only right to propose in the very place our story began, where love first locked eyes with destiny.”

Conceived in 2020, Laterras birthed the Dear Future Wifey podcast as a transformative tool to heal his own relationship struggles and embark on a profound journey of self-discovery to become a better man and husband in his next marriage. Through each must-see episode, Whitfield drew inspiration and guidance from the relatable, insightful, and sometimes raw perspectives that fueled his mission to Discover. Uncover. Recover love.
At the top of 2023, Whitfield believed he had found “the one,” but instead found himself sharing an emotional testimony of painful disappointment through the pivotal “Healing from Heartbreak” episode. Since then, Whitfield has been on a mission to be married and has made multiple declarations from the start of 2025 that he would be married by the end of the year. Yesterday’s engagement was the first step in making that dream a reality.
“I’ve always wanted to be married, not just for companionship, but to reflect the covenant love God designed. That’s why I launched the Dear Future Wifey podcast to restore faith in love, to normalize commitment, and to heal the wounds that keep us from healthy unions,” said Whitfield. “In a time when Black marriage rates are at historic lows, I felt compelled to take this step, not just for me, but for the culture. Getting married this year was intentional. I didn’t want to keep talking about it, I wanted to walk it. As a husband, I look forward to leading with love, covering her in prayer, and building a legacy that shows our community what partnership rooted in purpose really looks like.”
Surrounded by 30 of the couple’s closest family and friends, the intimate gathering was a breathtaking display of what dreams are made of. Meticulously decorated by Bizzie Bee Creations, the experience was adorned with gorgeous features, including an 8ft heart arch filled with hundreds of white flowers, preceded by a rose petal-covered red carpet and more special touches that exuded elegance and love. The biggest part of the surprise engagement was a special performance from Grammy Award nominated singer and songwriter, Kenny Lattimore, whose serenade masterfully delivered “So Marry Me” a heartfelt song written by Whitfield and Stellar Award nominated/2x BMI Christian Song Award recipient, Michael Bethany, and produced by the 5x Grammy Award-winning Warryn S. Campbell II, specifically for Whitfield’s Future Wifey.
A deep and hopeful romantic, Whitfield designed the engagement ring to perfection. Curated through an exclusive brand deal with the Philadelphia Diamond Company, the 7.5 carat total weight ring includes a 4 carat cushion queen cut center stone and features a stunning set of 31 rubies inside the band, representing the Proverbs 31 woman. To seal the commitment it represents, the ring’s center stone is cradled by the letter “W” for “Whitfield” and displays a scripture inscription of Genesis 2:23, which declares, “Bone of my bone.”

Whitfield and his Future Wifey will marry in Dallas, TX, this November. While details are still being determined, one thing is for sure… the future Mrs. Whitfield will remain anonymous until the moment she walks down the aisle.
“Keeping her identity private isn’t about hype, it’s about honor. In our society everything is on display, and I wanted to protect something sacred,” confirms Whitfield. “We chose to preserve this part of our journey, and she’s fully on board because we both believe the love we’re building doesn’t need validation to be valuable. At the wedding, people can look forward to more than just a reveal. They will witness a love story unfold in real time, a celebration of purpose, faith, and divine timing.”
2025 has marked a season of milestones for Whitfield. Having celebrated Dear Future Wifey’s fifth anniversary in April and launched season 10 of the podcast in May, this engagement is a full-circle testament and divine order of grace (the number 5) and completion (the number 10).
