Chase Sapphire Preferred Travel Card Boosts Rewards, $95 Fee

The Chase Sapphire Preferred 2026 update is introducing a fresh collection of benefits designed to help travelers earn more rewards without paying a higher annual fee. Beginning June 15, eligible cardmembers can access new bonus categories, expanded travel protections and additional statement credits while the card continues to carry its existing $95 annual fee.

For consumers who regularly spend on road trips, vacation rentals and travel bookings, the latest changes could make the popular rewards card even more appealing.

Chase Sapphire Preferred 2026 update adds new ways to earn

One of the biggest highlights of the Chase Sapphire Preferred 2026 update is the expansion of bonus earning categories.

Cardmembers will earn 3x points on gas purchases and EV charging.

Vacation home bookings made through qualifying platforms such as Airbnb and Vrbo will also qualify for 3x points.

Purchases made through Chase Travel continue to earn up to 5x points across flights, hotels, rental cars and other travel experiences.

Dining worldwide, select streaming services and eligible online grocery purchases continue to qualify for 3x rewards.

All remaining purchases earn one point per dollar.

The additions broaden the card’s appeal beyond airfare and hotels by rewarding spending that many travelers already make before and during a trip.

Travel credits receive meaningful upgrades

Several travel-related benefits are also expanding.

The annual Chase Travel Hotel Credit increases from $50 to $100, giving cardmembers additional value each account anniversary when booking eligible hotel stays through Chase Travel.

Another notable addition is a statement credit of up to $120 every four years for Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or NEXUS application fees. Frequent travelers who pass through airports regularly may find this benefit particularly useful.

The card also introduces a complimentary one-year Apple TV subscription for eligible users who activate the offer before the end of 2026.

Expanded protections could provide greater peace of mind

The Chase Sapphire Preferred 2026 update is not limited to rewards earning.

Emergency Evacuation and Transportation coverage joins the card’s suite of travel protections, adding another layer of assistance for eligible travelers facing medical emergencies while away from home.

Existing protections such as trip cancellation coverage, trip delay reimbursement and rental car benefits remain part of the package, giving travelers multiple forms of support during unexpected situations.

The enhancements arrive as more consumers prioritize flexibility and security when booking vacations and business trips.

Some longtime benefits are changing

While many features are expanding, one familiar perk is being phased out.

The 10% Anniversary Bonus Benefit will no longer apply to customers who open accounts on or after June 15, 2026. Existing cardmembers who qualified before that date will continue earning eligible bonuses for a limited transition period before the program concludes.

Another adjustment affects Ultimate Rewards transfers to World of Hyatt. The transfer ratio will move to 4:3 under the announced timeline, reducing the number of Hyatt points received compared with previous transfers.

Why the Chase Sapphire Preferred 2026 update matters

The Chase Sapphire Preferred 2026 update reflects a broader strategy of adding practical everyday rewards while strengthening travel-focused features. By combining new bonus categories for gas and vacation rentals with higher hotel credits, airport security reimbursement and expanded protections, the issuer is offering more value without increasing the annual fee.

For travelers deciding whether to keep or apply for the card, the balance of enhanced earning opportunities and additional benefits may outweigh the loss of the anniversary bonus, especially for those who frequently redeem points for travel experiences.
