Several major grocery chains have removed products from shelves since May 2026. The recalls cover a wide range of items, including snacks, frozen foods, infant formula and dairy products.
Some recalls began after manufacturers discovered possible contamination risks. Others involved undeclared allergens, foreign materials or potential bacterial concerns. In addition, several products were removed as a precaution after suppliers issued recalls.
Here is a breakdown of the affected products by retailer.
Kroger, Walmart, Target and ALDI recalls linked to dry milk powder
A supplier recall involving dry milk powder led to several product recalls across different brands and retailers. Although none of the recalled items tested positive for Salmonella, manufacturers removed them to protect consumers.
Potato chips from Zapp’s and Dirty brands
Utz Quality Foods issued a recall on May 4 for several Zapp’s and Dirty potato chip products.
The affected items include:
- Zapp’s Bayou Blackened Ranch Potato Chips in multiple sizes with expiration dates in August 2026.
- Dirty Salt and Vinegar Potato Chips with expiration dates of Aug. 3 and Aug. 10, 2026.
- Zapp’s Salt and Vinegar Potato Chips, 60-count packs, with expiration dates of Aug. 3 and Aug. 10, 2026.
- Dirty Maui Onion Potato Chips with an expiration date of Aug. 8, 2026.
- Zapp’s Big Cheezy Potato Chips with an expiration date of Aug. 31, 2026.
- Dirty Sour Cream and Onion Potato Chips with an expiration date of Aug. 31, 2026.
Snack mixes from Fisher, Southern Style Nuts and Squirrel Brand
John B. Sanfilippo and Son announced a recall on May 5 involving several trail mixes and snack products.
The recall affects items from Fisher, Southern Style Nuts and Squirrel Brand, including Tex Mex Trail Mix, Gourmet Hunter Mix, Hunter Mix and Travelers Mix products with expiration dates extending into 2027.
Consumers should check product labels carefully before consuming these items.
ALDI recall affects Mama Cozzi’s breakfast pizzas
The FDA announced a recall involving three varieties of Mama Cozzi’s Biscuit Crust Breakfast Pizza sold at ALDI stores.
The recalled products include:
- Sausage and Cheese Breakfast Pizza
- Cooked Pork Belly Crumbles Breakfast Pizza
- Cooked Bacon Topping, Pepper and Onion Breakfast Pizza
The affected products have expiration dates of Oct. 15, Oct. 21, Oct. 22, Oct. 23 and Oct. 24, 2026.
Target recalls baby formula and cookie dough products
Nara Organics infant formula recall
Nara Organics issued a recall on June 13 for its powdered infant formula products because of a potential risk of Clostridium botulinum contamination.
Target sold the recalled products nationwide. The affected items include Nara Organics Whole Milk Infant Formula in 700-gram and 400-gram sizes.
Bakr cookie dough recall
Bear Stewart recalled one lot of Bakr Brown Butter Chocolate Chunk Ready To Bake Cookie Dough on June 25.
The recall involves undeclared soy. No illnesses have been reported.
The affected product is the 8-ounce pouch with lot number 2606022, which was sold at Target stores nationwide.
Walmart recalls chocolate and plant-based meat products
SkinnyDipped chocolate recall
Bazzini recalled several SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites products on May 24 because they contained undeclared peanuts.
Walmart was among the retailers that sold the affected products. The recalled items include multiple sizes and counts with expiration dates in December 2026.
Morningstar Farms plant-based meat recall
Morningstar Farms announced a recall on June 18 after discovering possible plastic pieces in two plant-based products.
The affected products include:
- Morningstar Farms Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets, 10-ounce packages, with expiration dates of July 7 and July 8, 2027.
- Morningstar Farms Hot and Spicy Sausage Patties, 8-ounce packages, with expiration dates of July 5, July 6 and July 7, 2027.
H-E-B and Sprouts recall raw cheese products over E. coli concerns
H-E-B and Sprouts recalled certain raw cheese products after the FDA investigated illnesses connected to E. coli contamination.
By May, nine people had become sick from the outbreak strain. Three people required hospitalization, although no deaths were reported.
The recalled products include:
- Lightly Salted Cheddar Block
- Lightly Salted Cheddar Shred
- Jalapeno Cheddar Block
- Original Cheddar Shred
The affected products have expiration dates ranging from May 2026 through September 2026.
Consumers who purchased these products should check their refrigerators and throw away any recalled items immediately.
