A fresh wave of leaks has offered what appears to be the most complete picture yet of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. The details stem from documents that reportedly surfaced after a hacker breached one of Apple’s suppliers. These leaks include internal drop-test footage and calibration data rather than typical rumor-based speculation.
Leaked footage shows the iPhone 18 Pro Max in a new silver colorway. The back glass and metal frame now blend into a more unified look. That marks a shift from the two-tone design Apple used on the iPhone 17 Pro. The Apple logo also appears to switch from a matte finish to a mirror finish. A separate leak revealed a dark cherry SIM tray, confirming the tray survives in at least some markets even as Apple pushes eSIM-only elsewhere. The rear camera housing also looks noticeably thicker in the leaked images.
What the iPhone 18 Pro camera leaks reveal
That thicker camera bump ties directly to two upgrades. Apple appears to be adding an improved sensor for better image quality. Calibration data also confirms a variable aperture lens that adjusts light intake based on the scene. This would mark the first time an iPhone has offered that feature, giving photographers a genuine way to control brightness and background blur.
The telephoto and ultra-wide lenses show no leaked changes, suggesting they carry over from the iPhone 17 Pro. A rumored teleconverter for extended zoom also appears unlikely, since no leaked document mentions it.
Display, battery and thermal changes for the Pro lineup
The Dynamic Island is set to shrink by roughly 35%. Apple is reportedly repositioning the infrared Face ID sensor fully beneath the display. That moves away from the centrally clustered design Apple has used since 2022.
Battery gains look uneven across the two models. The base Pro moves only slightly, from 4,252 mAh to roughly 4,288 mAh. The Pro Max, however, jumps nearly 10%, from 5,088 mAh to about 5,567 mAh. That upgrade could push video playback past 43 hours. It also comes with a tradeoff, since the Pro Max may end up roughly 0.25mm thicker and 7 grams heavier than its predecessor. To manage the added heat, Apple is also reportedly enlarging its vapor chamber cooling system significantly compared to the iPhone 17 Pro.

Chip, modem and pricing details for iPhone 18 Pro
The new A20 chip runs on a 2-nanometer process. It is expected to bring meaningful gains in both performance and efficiency. Leaked schematics show RAM repositioned beside the chip rather than above it. Apple has also paired that RAM with LPDDR6 memory and a larger neural engine built for AI tasks.
On connectivity, Apple’s C2 modem was expected to support both standard and high-speed 5G. However, reports suggest the faster millimeter-wave variant did not make the final cut for all markets. Apple plans to use the C2 modem outside the US, while US units will likely continue using a newer Qualcomm modem instead.
Rising component costs point toward a price increase of up to $300. That could push the entry-level Pro from $1,099 to around $1,399. Apple is also not expected to release a standard iPhone 18 this September. The company plans to delay that more affordable model until spring 2027, alongside a second-generation iPhone Air.
When to expect the iPhone 18 Pro launch
Both the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max remain on track for a September 2026 unveiling. Apple initially planned to launch its long-rumored foldable iPhone alongside them that same month. However, recent leaks suggest it could ship separately in December instead. That would leave the Pro and Pro Max to headline September largely on their own.
