Karen Derrico is facing criminal charges in Las Vegas. The TLC star, known for Doubling Down With the Derricos, faced arrest on June 17. Prosecutors allege she sent threatening emails to her ex-husband Deon and directed several of those threats at their children.
Authorities charged her with harassment, violating a restraining order and aggravated stalking. She also faces a charge of attempting to prevent a witness from testifying through physical threat. A judge arraigned her on June 23. She pleaded not guilty to all counts and is out on a $2,000 bond. She is also wearing an ankle monitor. Her next court appearance is scheduled for August 6.
What prosecutors allege Derrico did
Prosecutors say Karen sent Deon multiple threatening emails. A family court order from April limited her contact with Deon to parenting matters only. Authorities allege a June 17 email broke that restriction. Incidents also allegedly occurred around May 2.
In those messages, prosecutors claim Karen threatened to kill Deon and said she would face jail without concern. She also allegedly threatened harm to any of their children who chose his side during their split. Furthermore, she allegedly warned Deon to stay away from a court hearing tied to the restraining order he filed against her. She reportedly told him she would have someone harm him before he could attend.
The aggravated stalking charge stems from allegations that Karen claimed to have a gun. Prosecutors say she threatened both Deon and his girlfriend. They state the messages left Deon in genuine fear for his safety and the safety of those around him.

How Karen Derrico’s attorney is fighting the charges
Karen’s legal team has pushed back firmly against every charge. Her attorney argues that Deon fabricated the threatening emails and made them appear to come from Karen. The defense team says it is working with technology experts to support that argument. Karen maintains she is innocent and denies she would ever threaten her children.
The Derrico divorce and the backstory behind this case
Karen and Deon separated and finalized their divorce in 2024. A court granted them joint legal and physical custody of their 14 children together. Thirteen of the children are still minors.
After the divorce, they continued living together for financial reasons and to keep the family together as one household. As it became clear they would not reunite, Karen moved out earlier this year. She left with four of the children. Tensions between the two reportedly worsened after that point.
Doubling Down With the Derricos ran on TLC from 2020 to 2024 across five seasons and 49 episodes. The show followed their lives raising a family that includes quintuplets, triplets and twins.
