Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold arrested on kidnapping and armed robbery charges
Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold faces serious legal trouble. Tampa police arrested the 23-year-old on Wednesday, June 24, after he turned himself in at Orient Road Jail in Hillsborough County, Florida. He now faces four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery. According to CBS Sports, those charges carry a maximum punishment of life in prison. The three victims were young men in their late teens.
What police say happened
The Tampa Police Department says the trouble started on February 1 when someone stole multiple items of personal property from an Airbnb in Largo where Arnold and others were staying. Arnold suspected two of the three victims of committing the theft. However, investigators later determined those two individuals played no role in the stealing.
On February 3, Arnold and co-defendant Boakai Hilton Jr. filed a property loss report with the Largo Police Department. They claimed the stolen belongings totaled more than $250,000.
That same day, police allege Arnold and Hilton coordinated a plan. They directed two women, Arianna Del Valle and Jasmine Randazzo, to contact one of the victims and lure him to an apartment. Around midnight on February 4, the victims arrived at the apartment. Two additional co-defendants, Christion Williams and Lyndell Hudson II, were hiding inside a bedroom closet.
When the victims entered the bedroom, Williams and Hudson grabbed them. They held them at gunpoint and physically assaulted them. Del Valle allegedly streamed the incident live to Arnold, Hilton and Freddie Hughes as they drove toward the apartment. Investigators also uncovered a group chat that revealed further coordination during the assault.
Roughly one hour later, Arnold, Hilton, Hughes and another individual arrived at the scene. Police allege Arnold directed them to enter the apartment. While the assault continued, Hughes, Hudson and Williams stole personal property from the victims. Around 1:40 a.m., the armed suspects escorted all three victims out of the apartment and forced them into their vehicle. The victims left with visible injuries. The suspects had battered them, held them at gunpoint and pistol-whipped them before stealing their belongings.
Six others already faced charges
Tampa Police had already arrested six other individuals connected to the incident between February 4 and March 21. Those individuals are Arianna Del Valle, 19, Jasmine Randazzo, 19, Lyndell Hudson II, 26, Christion Williams, 24, Boakai Hilton Jr., 23, and Freddie Hughes, 27. Each faces charges ranging from kidnapping to armed robbery. Investigators named Arnold as the primary conspirator based on evidence gathered during the investigation.
Arnold and his team deny all involvement
Arnold’s representative Denise White, CEO of EAG Sports Management, issued a firm denial to The Detroit News. She stated that no credible evidence links Arnold to the allegations. She also suggested the government relies on testimony from convicted felons who may have incentives to shift blame to reduce their own sentences. White added that Arnold looks forward to his day in court and expects the judicial process to vindicate him.
Arnold’s attorney R. Timothy Jansen went further in a statement to the Detroit Free Press. He said Arnold had no involvement whatsoever in the activities that led to the arrests. He added that Arnold was not present for any conduct related to the alleged offenses and that no evidence in police reports, text messages or witness statements implicates him in any way. Jansen also said he had spoken directly with the lead prosecutor, who confirmed no charges had been formally filed against Arnold in connection with the matter.
The Detroit Lions told PEOPLE the organization is aware of the legal situation and will not comment out of respect for the ongoing legal process. The NFL confirmed awareness of the matter and said it had contacted the club.
Arnold’s NFL career so far
Arnold played collegiately at Alabama before the Lions selected him in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft at No. 24 overall. He has appeared in 24 games across two seasons. Injuries significantly limited his 2025 season. He suffered a concussion and two shoulder injuries, with the second requiring season-ending surgery.
