Power Book III: Raising Kanan wraps five seasons tonight with its finale, Unconditional Love, and Starz has already lined up what comes next. Power: Origins is currently shooting its first season in New York, picking up immediately after tonight’s finale. Mekai Curtis stays on as Kanan opposite new actors stepping into young versions of Ghost and Tommy. A franchise built to hand off the story
Power Book IV: Force closed out its own run back in January, and Power: Legacy is already in development with Joseph Sikora and Michael Rainey Jr. attached. That means three generations of this universe are either wrapping up or gearing up within the same twelve months. Mekai Curtis and Patina Miller carried the Thomas family drama from a modest spinoff nobody was sure would work into the piece of the Power universe now trusted to hand the story forward. That is a heavier legacy than most prequels manage. It also explains why Starz built its next move around keeping Kanan’s actor in the frame rather than starting over completely.
