Lil Durk has won a major legal victory. A Los Angeles jury found the rapper not guilty of all charges in his federal murder for hire trial on Sept. 11.
The verdict ends a major legal battle over a deadly 2022 shooting in Los Angeles. Prosecutors accused Durk of helping organize an attack targeting fellow rapper Quando Rondo.
However, the jury rejected the charges against the Grammy-winning artist. Durk, whose real name is Durk Devontay Banks, faced several serious charges during the high-profile trial.
Lil Durk clears murder for hire charges
The federal jury deliberated for three days before reaching its decision. Ultimately, jurors found Durk not guilty on every charge in the murder for hire case.
The case centered on a 2022 shooting near a Los Angeles gas station. The alleged attack targeted Quando Rondo. However, gunfire struck his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, who later died from her injuries.
Prosecutors argued that Durk helped finance and organize the attack. They also connected the alleged plot to the 2020 killing of Durk’s close friend and fellow rapper King Von.
Meanwhile, Durk’s defense team strongly rejected those claims. His attorneys argued that a former assistant arranged the shooting without Durk’s knowledge.
As a result, the defense asked jurors to separate Durk from the actions of other people involved in the case. The jury ultimately agreed and cleared him of the murder for hire charges.
Durk still faces another federal case
Although Durk won an acquittal in the murder for hire case, his legal battle is not over.
The rapper remains in custody because federal prosecutors have another case against him. That case involves racketeering and weapons-related allegations.
Prosecutors plan to take that case to trial on Oct. 5. Therefore, Thursday’s verdict does not mean Durk will immediately walk free.
At the same time, two co-defendants who stood trial alongside Durk also avoided murder for hire convictions. However, jurors found them guilty of stalking-related charges.
The separate case means Durk still has another major legal hurdle ahead. For now, though, he can leave the murder for hire case without a conviction.

News of Durk’s acquittal quickly spread among his supporters and hip-hop fans. Many followed the case closely because of its connection to Chicago rap and the death of King Von.
Durk remains one of Chicago’s most prominent rap artists. Over the years, he has built a large following through his music and collaborations with major artists.
However, his legal troubles have also drawn significant attention. The murder for hire case placed his career and future under an intense spotlight.
Now, the rapper has secured an important legal victory. Still, another federal trial awaits him in October.
For Durk, the Sept. 11 verdict marks a major moment in his ongoing legal fight. Nevertheless, his next courtroom battle could once again attract widespread attention.
