Apple TV hosted the red carpet premiere for “Cape Fear” on Tuesday, June 2. The event took place at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles. The psychological horror thriller marks a significant new addition to the platform’s drama lineup. Nick Antosca created the series and serves as showrunner and executive producer. Furthermore, Academy Award winners Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg both executive produce the project. Javier Bardem and Amy Adams star in the series and also serve as executive producers.
The 10-episode limited series debuts globally on Friday, June 5, 2026. The first two episodes arrive that day. After that, new episodes will follow every Friday through July 31, 2026, exclusively on Apple TV.
Who attended the Cape Fear premiere
The red carpet event brought together much of the show’s core creative team and cast. Attendees included Antosca, Adams and Bardem. Series stars Patrick Wilson, Lily Collias, Joe Anders, Malia Pyles, Anna Baryshnikov and Jamie Hector also walked the carpet. The strong turnout reflected both the scale of the production and the prestige attached to its creative pedigree.

What Cape Fear is about
The series draws inspiration from the 1991 remake directed by Scorsese and produced by Spielberg. It follows Anna Bowden, played by Amy Adams, and her husband Tom Bowden, played by Patrick Wilson. The couple are happily married attorneys. However, their lives unravel when Max Cady, played by Javier Bardem, is released from prison. Cady is the notorious killer the Bowdens once helped put behind bars. Now, he returns seeking vengeance.
Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Patrick Wilson joins Joe Anders, Lily Collias and Malia Pyles to round out the ensemble cast. Additionally, CCH Pounder, Jamie Hector and Anna Baryshnikov fill out the supporting roles.
The creative team behind the series
UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television produced “Cape Fear.” The series draws from two sources. First is the novel “The Executioners,” which originally inspired the 1962 Gregory Peck film of the same name. Second is the acclaimed 1991 Scorsese remake. Spielberg produced that 1991 film. Now, he returns as an executive producer alongside Scorsese for this new iteration.
Antosca showruns and produces the series alongside Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat. Meanwhile, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey produce for Amblin Television alongside Spielberg. Academy Award nominee Morten Tyldum will direct the pilot episode and serve as an executive producer. Antosca has developed and produced the series through his overall deal at UCP, where he has been based since 2017.
