Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested early Monday morning in Tampa, Florida, marking his third brush with the law since joining the team in 2023. Police records show that Addison was charged with misdemeanor trespassing at a location linked to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
According to authorities, Addison was taken into custody at 3:46 a.m. ET and booked at 7:33 a.m. He was released later that day after posting a $500 bond at 2:40 p.m. The Seminole Indian Police, who handled the arrest, have not yet provided further details regarding the circumstances.
Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O’Connell addressed the incident during their annual end-of-season news conferences, noting that they had only recently learned of the arrest. Both officials refrained from speculating about potential disciplinary measures, stating that the organization is reviewing the situation and will take the facts into account before determining any course of action.
Addison’s legal representatives at Younger & Associates have confirmed that his team is actively investigating the incident. They are reviewing witness statements and exploring the potential for a false arrest claim. The agency expressed confidence that Addison will be exonerated once the legal process is complete.
A history of legal issues
This is not Addison’s first run-in with the law. In July 2023, he was cited for driving 140 mph on a Minnesota freeway. He eventually pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor speeding charge while a reckless driving count was dismissed, paying $686 in fines.
Almost exactly one year later, Addison faced another arrest in California, this time on suspicion of driving under the influence after being found asleep behind the wheel near Los Angeles International Airport. He pleaded no contest to a “wet reckless” charge, a legal term for reckless driving involving alcohol. His sentence included a 12-month probation, a $390 fine, completion of two online courses, and a three-game suspension. He was also benched for the first quarter of a Week 5 game in London after missing a walkthrough practice.
Impact on career and team
Addison, the Vikings’ No. 3 receiver, is eligible for a contract extension this spring, a development that could be influenced by his recent legal troubles. The organization has emphasized that while Addison is largely a positive presence in the locker room, the team must weigh long-term consequences when evaluating contract decisions and roster changes, including the future of pending free agent Jalen Nailor.
Over three seasons and 46 games with Minnesota, Addison has recorded 175 receptions for 2,396 yards and 22 touchdowns, establishing himself as a key contributor on the field despite off-field issues.
The Vikings organization is expected to continue reviewing the situation closely, balancing support for the player with the need to maintain accountability and uphold team standards. Addison’s legal proceedings and the organization’s response are likely to remain under public and media scrutiny in the coming weeks.
