
The 2026 NABJ Convention & Career Fair is officially open for registration, inviting journalists and media professionals to join the organization’s premier event in Atlanta from August 12 to 16. Following the celebration of NABJ’s 50th anniversary, this year’s convention promises to highlight the organization’s enduring legacy while looking toward the future of Black journalism.
Atlanta, a city known globally for its role in civil and human rights, culture, and innovation, will provide a fitting backdrop for the convention’s theme, “Our Revolution: Truth, Power and Black Journalism.” Attendees can expect a dynamic combination of learning, networking, and cultural experiences designed to elevate careers across journalism and media industries.

Distinguished co-chairs guide the 2026 convention
The 2026 NABJ Convention & Career Fair will be led by a team of accomplished journalists and media leaders. Convention Co-Chairs include Blayne Alexander, correspondent for Dateline NBC, and Leroy Chapman Jr., editor-in-chief of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Their leadership will help shape one of the most important gatherings for Black journalists and media professionals.
Supporting the convention’s programming, two Program Co-Chairs have been named: Charisse Gibson, journalist and evening news anchor at WWL-TV in New Orleans, and Sherrod Blakely, associate professor of sports journalism at Boston University’s College of Communication. Together, these leaders will help design workshops and sessions aimed at equipping attendees with tools to advance their careers while addressing current issues in media and journalism.
A celebration of Black journalism and culture
This year’s event will feature hundreds of training sessions, cultural moments, and career development opportunities. Attendees will have the chance to connect with industry leaders, participate in mentorship sessions, and gain insights from some of the most influential voices in media today.
