A Tupac trial shooting was reported outside a Las Vegas courthouse on Tuesday as members of Tupac Shakur’s family left for a lunch break during Duane “Keffe D” Davis’ murder trial. Police responded to reports of gunfire near the courthouse, but authorities did not find a confirmed shooting scene or any victims.
The incident happened on the second day of testimony in the long-awaited trial over Shakur’s 1996 killing. The reported gunfire came after an emotional day in court that included graphic autopsy photos of the legendary rapper.
Tupac trial shooting reported during lunch break
According to reports, the gunfire occurred shortly after the court adjourned for lunch. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police responded to the area following reports of a shooting.
However, officers did not locate a confirmed crime scene or report critical injuries. The incident also did not stop the trial from continuing later in the day.
The timing added tension to an already emotional day for Shakur’s relatives. Some family members had left the courtroom before prosecutors displayed graphic images from the rapper’s autopsy.
Others stayed to hear the medical examiner explain the injuries that ultimately caused Shakur’s death.
Duane “Keffe D” Davis faces murder charge
Davis, 63, faces one count of murder with a deadly weapon in connection with Shakur’s death. He has pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors accuse Davis of helping organize the drive-by shooting after Shakur and his entourage attacked Davis’ nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, inside the MGM Grand earlier that night.
The prosecution argues that Davis helped prepare the group for retaliation and was inside the vehicle used in the shooting. However, Davis is not accused of personally firing the fatal shots.
The defense has challenged the prosecution’s account and argued that Davis’ previous statements about the killing were not reliable.
Tupac’s family faces painful courtroom evidence
The second day of the trial brought difficult moments for Shakur’s family.
Forensic pathologist Dr. Lisa Gavin testified about the rapper’s injuries and explained how doctors attempted to save his life after he was shot in Las Vegas in September 1996.
Jurors were shown graphic images from the autopsy. Some of Shakur’s relatives chose to leave before the images were displayed, while others remained in the courtroom.
The trial has given the family an opportunity to hear evidence about the events surrounding Shakur’s death nearly 30 years after the shooting.

What happens next in the Tupac trial?
The Tupac trial shooting report did not derail the proceedings. Testimony is expected to continue as prosecutors present evidence about the events leading up to the rapper’s death.
The case is one of the most closely watched murder trials in hip-hop history. Prosecutors are relying in part on statements Davis made publicly over the years, including claims about his presence in the vehicle during the shooting.
Davis’ defense, meanwhile, maintains that prosecutors have not proven their case beyond a reasonable doubt.
As the trial continues, more witnesses are expected to testify about the events surrounding Shakur’s final hours and the investigation that followed.
