Costco customers are being urged to stop using certain electric kettles after a major safety recall tied to burn hazards and handle failures.
The recall affects more than 113,000 electric kettles sold across the United States under the ZWILLING J.A. Henckels brand. Officials say the kettle handles can loosen or detach during use, causing hot liquid to spill and increasing the risk of serious injuries.
The affected products include ZWILLING Enfinigy and Enfinigy Pro 1.5-liter electric kettles sold between December 2019 and February 2026. Customers purchased the products through HomeGoods stores and online retail channels. Prices ranged from about $120 to $200.
The recall also extends beyond the United States. Nearly 44,000 units were sold in Canada, while a smaller number reached customers in Mexico.
Three key problems triggered the recall
Safety officials identified three major concerns connected to the recalled kettles.
- The kettle handles may loosen over time during regular use. Consumers reported instability while lifting or pouring hot water.
- Some handles reportedly separated completely from the kettle body. This defect increased the risk of spilling boiling liquid directly onto users.
- At least one customer suffered a second-degree burn injury linked to the product. Authorities also received multiple additional reports involving handle problems and safety concerns.
According to the recall notice, the company received 163 reports involving loose or detached handles. Five of those incidents involved accidents connected to product use.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission warned that the defect creates a serious burn hazard because users may lose control of the kettle while handling hot contents.
Which kettle models are included
The recall affects several stainless-steel electric kettle models sold in multiple finishes, including black, silver, rose gold and white.
The affected Enfinigy electric kettle models include 53101-200 and 53101-201.
The affected Enfinigy Pro electric kettle models include:
- 53101-500
- 53101-501
- 53101-502
- 53101-503
- 53101-504
Customers can locate the model number and ZWILLING branding on the bottom of both the kettle and the power base.
The products were manufactured in China and distributed in the United States through ZWILLING J.A. Henckels LLC, based in Pleasantville, New York.
Consumers urged to stop using kettles immediately
Safety officials and the company are asking customers to stop using the recalled kettles right away.
Consumers seeking refunds must complete several steps during the return process. First, they need to unplug the kettle. Second, they must cut the power cord to disable the product. Third, they must upload a photo showing the disabled kettle before disposing of it safely.
The company says customers who complete the process will receive a full refund.
Large retailers and appliance brands continue facing increasing pressure around product safety and consumer protection. Kitchen appliances remain one of the most common categories tied to household injury recalls because they involve heat, electricity and boiling liquids.
The recall also arrives during a period of heightened consumer awareness around home product safety. Social media and online marketplaces now allow recall notices to spread more quickly than in previous years, increasing pressure on companies to respond rapidly when defects emerge.
Consumers who own affected ZWILLING kettles should verify the model number immediately and avoid further use until they complete the refund process.
