Pierre “P” Thomas, the Quality Control Music co-founder, is receiving medical care in Las Vegas after suffering a heart attack. His representative has confirmed that he is alive and recovering.
Thomas is being monitored at a Las Vegas hospital, according to TMZ. The report said he was in the intensive care unit, with family members nearby as doctors continued his care.
Variety later reported that a representative for Thomas confirmed his condition had moved into recovery. The representative also asked the public to give Thomas and his family privacy while he receives treatment.
The updates provide some clarity after early reports about Thomas began circulating Friday.
Thomas helped shape Atlanta hip hop
Thomas has spent more than a decade building one of Atlanta’s most influential music companies.
He co-founded Quality Control Music with Kevin “Coach K” Lee in 2013. The company went on to help develop artists such as Migos, Lil Baby, City Girls and Lil Yachty. That work made Thomas an important figure behind Atlanta’s modern hip hop movement. His influence also extended beyond music as Quality Control expanded into sports management and other entertainment ventures.
Quality Control’s growth reached another major point in 2023. HYBE America acquired the company in a deal that was reported at roughly $300 million in cash and stock.
What comes next for Thomas
For now, Thomas remains under medical care as his family and doctors focus on his recovery. The latest reports offer a more reassuring picture than the first accounts suggested. Still, further details about his condition have not been released.
Thomas’ role in Atlanta music has made the news closely watched by artists, fans and industry figures. Quality Control’s influence stretches across several generations of hip hop talent, which gives any update about its co-founder added weight.
The situation remains developing. Any further information about Thomas’ recovery will likely come from his representatives or Quality Control.
