Alisa Goods, a 63 year old New York grandmother, has been found dead in Las Vegas, her family confirmed Friday. Goods disappeared during a visit to the city, leaving relatives searching for answers across Southern Nevada.
Goods was last seen Aug. 8 after leaving the Las Vegas apartment of a longtime friend. She had planned to travel to a nearby CVS pharmacy. Her family reported her missing two days later.
The search eventually brought relatives from New York to Las Vegas. They checked hospitals and other locations while distributing flyers and asking the public for information. Her death now leaves the family facing a different set of questions. Authorities have not publicly released a cause or manner of death.
What happened before Alisa Goods disappeared
Goods had been visiting a longtime friend in Las Vegas when she left the apartment that afternoon. According to information previously shared by her family, she intended to go to a nearby CVS to purchase personal items.
Her disappearance became more concerning when she did not return. Her family also said they began receiving unusual messages from her phone several days later. The messages reportedly asked for money and eventually requested Bitcoin. Some of the details did not fit what relatives knew about Goods.
Her family shared those messages with authorities. Earlier reports also said investigators considered the possibility that someone else had been using or manipulating information connected to her phone.
The unusual messages became a major part of the family’s effort to understand what had happened.

New questions remain for the Goods family
The circumstances surrounding Goods’ death remain unclear. Reports published today said authorities had not released the cause of death or explained how she came to be found near Harry Reid International Airport.
That detail adds another unanswered part to a case that had already drawn attention because of the unusual phone messages and the family’s search.
Reports also said surveillance footage placed a woman believed to be Goods near the airport on the day she disappeared. However, the available reporting does not establish what happened between that sighting and when authorities found her.
Police have not publicly identified a suspect in connection with the case. For her family, the search that began with hopes of bringing Goods home has now shifted toward understanding what happened during her final days.
The family has asked for privacy while grieving and has thanked members of the public who helped bring attention to the search.
