Spotify is experiencing a widespread outage Tuesday morning, July 14, 2026. More than 4,500 users have reported problems on Downdetector as of 8:31 a.m. ET. The phrase “Is Spotify down” began trending on Google shortly after the issue emerged, confirming that the disruption is affecting a large number of users simultaneously.
The outage first appeared shortly after 7:30 a.m. ET. Because the problem emerged relatively recently, a fix could come quickly. However, many users are still experiencing issues as of the time of this report.
What is causing problems for users
The outage is hitting multiple parts of the Spotify platform at once. According to Downdetector data, approximately 40 percent of reports involve problems with the Spotify app itself. Audio streaming accounts for 26 percent of reported issues. Problems with the Spotify website make up another 21 percent of reports.
Together, those numbers indicate the disruption extends beyond a single feature or device type. Users on both mobile and desktop appear to be affected.
What to do if Spotify is not working
If Spotify is not playing or loading for you, try closing and reopening the app first. Additionally, restarting your device or switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data can sometimes resolve temporary connection issues. Clearing the app’s cache on Android devices is also worth trying.
Checking Downdetector or Spotify’s official social media accounts can help confirm whether the issue is widespread or limited to your connection. If the outage is on Spotify’s end, the best course of action is to wait for the company to push a fix.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
